Uploading Web Hosting Files Using WebDrive/GoliathYou can upload and manage files on your website using the software WebDrive for Windows, Goliath for Mac OS, or cadaver for Unix and Linux.
The Web address/URL you will need to connect to via WebDrive/Goliath/Cadaver
is https://webdav.hosting.vt.edu/[Your Site]
WindowsYou can use the software WebDrive to publish and manage files and folders on your Web site. WebDrive is not a filemanager on its own but rather software that makes your Web site's files appear as a local drive. Just like the "C:" drive is your local harddrive, you choose which drive, such as "W:", that you want WebDrive to use for your site. In effect, when you are connected to your Web site via WebDrive, it is just like working on your local harddrive. You can use the familiar Windows Explorer or My Computer interface or any other filemanager software to drag-and-drop, rename and delete files, and create and remove folders. Follow the steps below to install and configure WebDrive. Optionally, if you are using the Web development tool Macromedia Dreamweaver, and you would like to use its site management features, read the following article:
Using Web Folders with WindowsTo add a Web Folder to connect to your filebox or hosting site in Windows, refer to the appropriate knowledge base article:
Mac OSWe recommend that you the software Goliath to upload files to your Web site. Using Goliath is much like using your former FTP client, e.g., Fetch. You can drag&drop, delete files, and create and remove folders. For instructions, refer to Downloading and Configuring Goliath to Connect to the Web Hosting Service. Unix and LinuxYou can use the software cadaver to upload files to your Web site. Refer to Downloading and Configuring cadaver for Unix and Linux to Connect to the Web Hosting Service. There are many commands for managing files and folders, including deleting files and folders, uploading and downloading test files, and printing working directories. For more information, see Commands for Managing Files and Folders in cadaver for Unix and Linux.
