New Web Hosting Server Information

We are happy to announce that we are moving our hosting clients to a new, improved web hosting server. This new server is running a newer version of the Zeus web hosting server that will enable us to expand our services over the next few months.

We are moving clients in small batches of a few at a time to ensure things transition smoothly. A week before your site moves, you will be notified of the upcoming change. A week later, when your site has been moved, you will receive a notification message to begin using the new settings for FTP and WebDAV.

Changes to Service

There should be no visible changes to the hosting service. However, the name of the servers you connect to to update your site will change, see the sections below on how to update your settings depending on how you update your files.

Changes to FTP Settings

Note: Do not change your settings until your host has been moved to the new server (the date the move will occur is specified in your notification e-mail).

To access your site via FTP, connect to www.hosting.vt.edu and change into the directory named after your web site.

Changes to WebDAV Settings

Note: Do not change your settings until your host has been moved to the new server (the date the move will occur is specified in your notification e-mail).

To access your site via WebDAV, use https://www.hosting.vt.edu/www.yoursite.vt.edu/ - Replace www.yoursite.vt.edu with the name of your site.
