Bitlocker Drive Encryption on Dell Computers

Question:

I'm having problems with Bitlocker drive encryption not storing the key on TPM on my Dell computer. Windows is not relinquishing ownership of the TPM chip in order to store the Bitlocker key; therefore, Bitlocker drive encryption is failing  on my Dell computer with one of the following model numbers:

  • Latitude - 3470, 3570, E5270, E5470, E7270, E7470
  • Optiplex - 3040, 3240, 5040, 7040, 7240
  • Precision - 3420, 3620, 3510, 5510, 7510, 7710
