Virginia Tech affiliates who received the following email will lose their VT Google Apps account on June 17, 2015, because they do not have the required affiliations to retain the account. On that date, all of the email, files, documents, pictures, and other content in the account will become unrecoverable, and the owner will no longer be able to access the account. For questions or assistance in obtaining a required affiliation, contact the appropriate department listed in the email.
Email systems such as VT Google Apps Mail and Virginia Tech Exchange are neither instantaneous or 100% perfect. They are provided to help facilitate the teaching, learning, and research objectives of Virginia Tech. If you have a question or concern about email, contact 4Help by using the Help Request Form.
Even if you use Exchange exclusively and never use your VT Google Apps Mail account, there is the possibility that spam (or legitimate messages marked as spam) may be caught by the VT Google Apps Spam folder and never get to your Exchange account. 4Help recommends everyone regularly check their VT Google Apps Inbox and Spam folder by using a Web browser.
4Help strongly recommends sharing specific email or calendar folders instead of delegating access to your entire Exchange or VT Google Apps account. The terms sharing and delegating are often incorrectly used interchangeably; however, delegating access automatically gives the delegate permission to view every calendar, contact, and email item in your account and allows the delegate to send email and schedule meetings in the name of the owner.
